BRIEF HISTORY OF FREEMAN METHODIST YOUTH FELLOWSHIP
Freeman Methodist Youth Fellowship was formed in the early sixties after the establishment of the church. It was the third organization formed in the church after the Singing band and the Choir in the old church building in Kwesimintsim township with Bro. Appiah Thompson who later became a Reverend Minister as its first Chairman and Sis. Winnifred Arhin as the Secretary. Some of the founding members were Bro. Appiah Thompson, I.K. Mensah Jnr, Richard Tetteh, Thomas Tetteh and Sis. Winnifred Arhin, Margaret Ofori-Atta (now Margaret Yankey), Mary Erskine and many other brothers and sisters. In all, thirty-two (32) members started the fellowship, most of whom have left the vicinity and others have passed on to eternity.
Soon after its formation, the young fellowship started gaining grounds by attending rallies, symposia and competing in Bible Quizzes and relevant programmes in the Takoradi Circuit, often getting enviable positions in these Bible Quizzes.
The fellowship strived hard to go into agricultural venture but this did not materialize for long due to financial constraints.
The Freeman Methodist Youth Fellowship is still alive and is now a vibrant force in the church participating in all church programmes and leading in the church’s evangelism drive. We pray that the Fellowship grows from strength to strength to the glory of the Lord bringing young people to know Christ.
AMEN
