BRIEF HISTORY OF FREEMAN SOCIETY GUILD, KWESIMINTSIM
The Freeman Society Guild, Kwesimintsim herein called FGSK is currently the circuit head of the Kwesimintsim Circuit Guild. However, in the late 1950’s the FSGK was formerly part of Guild Sekondi Circuit Guild. Notable and esteemed chairmen during this period were Opanyin Cudjoe and Opanyin Addae Antwi. In the early 1960’s, the FSGK moved from the Sekondi Circuit Guild and joined the Takoradi Circuit Guild (when the Takoradi Circuit Guild was formed out of the Sekondi Circuit Guild) because the FSGK was near Takoradi than Sekondi. Shortly after the FSGK joined the Takoradi Circuit Guild, it collapsed due to internal rift between executives and members. In the 1968, the FSGK was revived with the help of Nazareth Society Guild, Nkontompo and Bethany Society Guild, Essaman. As the Takoradi Circuit grew bigger, there was the need to carve out a new circuit out of the Takoradi Circuit Guild and the Kwesimintsim Circuit Guild was formed. When the Kwesimintsim Circuit was formed, the FSGK came under the Kwesimintsim Circuit because of its obvious location and was made the circuit head. After its revival in 1968, the following members held the chairmanship and secretarial positions in the organization.

The FSFK is one of the vibrant Guild organizations in the Kwesimintsim Circuit as well as the Sekondi Diocese. The FSGK actively takes part in the activities of Kwesimintsim Circuit including, the church planting at Race Course. During the chairmanship of Opanyin J.K. Dadzie, the FSGK remarkably celebrated its 25th anniversary. The FSGK also has contributed immensely to the growth of Kwesimintsim Freeman Methodist Society. Notably, the FSGK has produced one Reverend Minister (Rev. Dartey), the longest society steward (Opanyin G.K.K MaClean), and a property steward (OP J.K. Dadzie).
